Chrome white screen on macOS — solved

Chrome on a Mac loading blank white pages and throwing ‘Aw, Snap!’ on every site? The repair steps that fixed it, from the obvious to the profile-level.

If Chrome on your Mac keeps loading blank white pages and throwing ‘Aw, Snap!’ errors on every site — YouTube, Google, everything — work through these steps in order.

  1. Restart. Obvious, I know — but it works often enough to try first.
  2. Download and reinstall Chrome.
  3. Still broken? Try Chrome under a different user profile to see whether it’s a corrupt profile.
  4. Even if it is a profile error, installing an older build can get you running again; once it works, you may be able to update back to the current version.
// caution
  • Only download Chrome from a source you trust. Older builds miss security fixes — treat an old version as a temporary diagnostic step, then update once you’re stable.
