Revert Outlook 2016 autocomplete (replaced with ‘Recent People’)
A quick registry fix to restore the classic Outlook 2016 autocomplete behaviour after an update swapped it for the ‘Recent People’ list.
To fix this annoying change, you’ll edit one registry value. Open the Registry Editor — press Windows key + R (or click Start), type regedit, and press Enter.
- Navigate to the key below.
- Right-click and create a new DWORD named
DisableAutoCompleteUpdate. - Modify it and give it a hexadecimal value of
1. - Restart Outlook.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Options
// note
- Editing the registry carries risk — back up the key before you change it. Office 2016 is version 16.0, so the path is the same regardless of build.
